London lit up during the Olympics and became a far nicer city. People actually smiled and talked to each other in the tube and, contrary to predictions, travel was easy and stressproof as so many took the Government advice and stayed away.
Those of us who thought that, following the pathetic GB show in Bejing, the whole thing would be a disaster, from day one had to eat humble pie. From the magnificently conceived Opening Ceremony the feeling was palpable that this country can get up off its collective knees and achieve greatness once more and the successes kept piling up with those wonderful Para Olympians upping the game.
What now that Andy has achieved the status of Fred Perry? Where will our excitemet come from? Surely not that tame game of Football.
Time for Kayf Aramis and that magnifiscent looking Zayfire to get us fired up? I hope! Looking forward, if not to the dark nights and the inevitable cold, to the new Racing Season. Cheltenham can't come soon enough
